Chopta - Mini Switzerland of India

About Chopta: Chopta is situated at Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand State, also known as mini Switzerland of India. Chopta is located at 2,800mts above sea level, surrounded by the dense forest. Chopta provides majestic view of snow capped Himalaya’s major peaks Nanda Devi, Chukhamba and Trishul. This place is very rich for flora and fauna. Heavy snow fall is being there during December to March.

Places to visit in Chopta

Tungnath Temple - Tungnath temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and one of the Panch Kedar. Tungnath temple stands 3680mts above sea level. This temple is situated around 4 kms trek distance from Chopta. Tungnath Temple is the highest of Panch Kedar. This temple opens May to October.

Chandrashila - Chandrashila Temple is 2 kms far from Tungnath Temple. It is situated 4,000mts altitude above the sea level. Chandrasila gives you amazing 360-degree view of the Chaukhamba, Kedarnath and Trishul peaks.

Ukhimath - Ukhimath is the winter seat of Lord Kedarnath. During winter Shri Kedarnath ji is worshipped in Ukhimath.

Deoria Tal - Deoria Tal is located 2442mts above the sea level. One can be reached by an easy trek of 2km from Sari village located on Ukhimath – Gopeshwar road. Deoria Tal lake holds crystal clear water in which the reflections of Chaukhamba peaks makes it magical and magnificent.

Kanchula Korak Musk Deer Sanctuary - This place is surrounded by 6 square kilometres and situated 8kms far from Chopta. Best attraction of this place is breeding musk dears. This wildlife sanctuary is best destination of wildlife lovers. One can see many other Himalayan wildlife species of this place.
