Day 01: Haridwar to Mastura / Sari Village (220Kms Drive)

Morning pick up from Haridwar/Dehradun railway station and drive to Mastura village (1470mts - 23kms far from Ukhimath. Dinner and Overnight stay at guest house / camping site.

Day 02: Trekking Mastura to Deoria Tal (2440mts – 5 Kms Trek)

Morning after having breakfast uphill trek start to Deoria Tal. This lake has captivating surroundings with forest all around. Te reflection of the mighty Chaukhamba peak in the lake creates a beautiful effect. The Garwhal ranges of Himalayas posses so many treasures of nature, which are bestowed with unparallel beauty. Deoria Tal is one among such vista’s that captivates anybody with its charismatic appeal.

Deoria Tal’s crystalline water offers a spell bound images of its beautiful surroundings. It is believed that it was the place from where the mighty Pandavas were asked queries by Yaksha. The lake is surrounded in a soothingly inclined field bounded by a deep wood cover. Return back to Mastura/Sari Village overnight stay.

Day 03: Drive Mastura to Pothibasa (8Kms) Trek to Chopta (3000mts - 7Kms)

Early morning drive Mastura to Pothibasa 8Kms drive and trek start to Chopta hill station. Amazing jungle trail of rhododendron you will find enroot. Evening arrive Chopta dinner and overnight stay.

Day 04: Trekking Chopta – Tungnath (3680mts) – Chandrashila (4100mts – 4Kms one side)

Early morning trek start to Tungnath - . In the inner Himalayan range, the temple is one of the highest in the region. Locals described it as the arm of Shiva, that part of his body, which makes this the second of the Panch Kedars. Spend some time at the temple do Poja Darshan and have your lunch here.

Afternoon trek start Tungnath to Chandrashila peak. It’s easy accessibility makes it a much desired trekking spot in the locality. Except in December to January, this peak is suitable for trekking and allied activities. Chandrashila trek is categorized as a moderate level trek, which would take a complete week. Apart from trekking, Chandrashila is ideal for other escapades like skiing and scaling. The trek to Chandrashila unfolds the awesome views of the snow clad mountain peaks.

Evening return back to Chota. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 05: Chopta to Haridwar/Dehradun

Morning post breakfast drive back to Haridwar. Drop at railway station / airport.

About Chopta

Chopta offers a magnificent picturesque view of snow covered Himalayan peaks situated in Uttarakhand state, India and a popular for trekking to Tungnath is the third temple of Panch Kedar which is at a distance of 3.5 km. situated at a distance of 1 km from Tungnath is Chandrashila Peak at 4000 metres above sea level. The destination is also popular Mini Switzerland. Chopta is well-known for its breathtaking natural beauty and lush meadows called Bugyls. Tourists can also enjoy the breathtaking views of mountain like Chandrashila Trishul, Chaukhamba and Nanda Devi. This place is famous for Tungnath Temple which is dedicated to God Shiva.

Places to visit in Chopta

Madhmeshwar - Madhyamaheshwar or Madmaheshwar is a famous and untouched trekking route and destination at threshold of Chaukhama Mountain in Garhwal Himalaya. A popular Hindu temple situated here, which is dedicated to god Shiva at an elevation of 3,497 meter above the sea label, it is the fourth temple to be visited in the Panch Kedar pilgrimage periphery, comprising five Shiva temples in the Garhwal region.

Madmaheshwar is in a picturesque green valley surrounded by snow peaks of Neel Kanth, Chaukhamba and Kedarnath in high Himalayan hill ranges. The Kedar hills, gives a wonderful view of the mountain formation with several glaciers which include the source of the Mandakini River.

Deoria Tal - Deoria Tal is a beautiful lake located near Chopta. About 3km uphill trek from the villages of Mastura and Saari. The lake is known for its wide 300° panoramic view of Himalaya peaks including Chaukhamba, Nilkantha, Bandarpunch, Kedar Range and Kalanag. It is most famous for reflection of snow covered peaks of Chaukhanaba & Kedarnath on crystalline water of Deoria Tal Lake. Sages believe that it was the place from where the mighty Pandaves asked questioned by Yaksh, during their banishment. And who is also a caretaker of Natural treasures hidden in the earth and roots of the trees. Lived in the same lake.

Kalimath - Kalimath is a village which is regarded as a Divinest place and Shakti Peeth. It is situated close to Ukhimath, and Guptakashi. It lies at an altitude of around 1,800 mts from the sea level in the Himalayas. The large number of venerators round the year and especially during the “Navratras” visited here for worship of Goddess Kali . As per Srimad Devi Bhagwat there are 108 shaktipeetha and is holy shrine one of them. A unique thing about the temple is that there is no idol that is worshipped here.

Tungnath Temple - Tungnath is one of the panch kedar and highest temple of lord Shiva and situated at the 3680 meters above the sea level. This temple is built out of local slate dot the tiny plateau. According to Hindu fable the Tungnath temple is build by Arjun. The trek to Tungnath temple is commence from chopta. The temple is closed from November to March.

Chandrashila - Chandrashila is the highest point of the mountain placed elevation of 4000 meter above from sea level. Where Chopta and Tungnath is located. It is another trekking point of chopta and can reach there after 1 km. trek. You can enjoy 260 degree panoramic view from Chandrashila.

Chopta is paradise of trekker’s and it offers a magnificent view of the surrounding Mountains and deep wooded valleys. There are so many treks and trails in Chopta region crossing jungle and grasslands. Chandrashila trek is categorized as a moderate level trek, which take a complete week. Tunganath, Chandrshilla & Devariyatal are the most famous trek routs in Chopta. Because of affluence of birds this hill station is becoming popular among bird watchers.

Season to visit Chopta

Summer - Chopta has a very cool and pleasant climate in summer from March to May with the temperature between 10 °C and 30 °C. You can see very clear and amazing view of Himalaya range. Carry some light woollen clothes when you planning to visit Chopta in this season.

Spring - Monsoon season starts from July and ends in October. It is very pleasant time to visit Chopta, this is golden chance to visitors who want to enjoy the charm of rain in the hills. Don’t forget to carry your rain coat. You may have to face inconvenience due to landslides.

Winter - If you want to enjoy of snowfall then you should visit Chopta from November to March and the temperature is between a minimum of −15 °C and a maximum of 15 °C, so don’t forget carry woollens cloths. It is fully covered with snow during winters and the same time some of the routes going to Chopta are blocked. Then avoid visiting this place during the winter season when trekking routes are closed.

By Air - The Jolly Grant Airport, which is in the city of Dehradun, is the closest air link from Chopta.

By Rail - Rishikesh is a distance of around 200km from Chopta. It is the nearest rail way station.

By Road - Bus Service is available for Chopta and you can go by your own transport, it is well connected by motor able roads.
