Harsil Hill Station

Harsil is situated on the banks of Bhagirathi River amidst the Kumaon Himalayas. This hill station of Uttaranchal is a virgin territory with natural bounty, and calm and serene environment. Harsil has the most enchanted views of nature that you do not need to go anywhere else. Tucked away among dense deodar forests, gushing water of Bhagirathi River, songs of birds, soothing atmosphere are the best part of this beautiful region. While holidaying in Harsil you can revitalize with yourself by practicing meditation and yoga. You can also opt for trekking among various routes around the vicinity of Harsil.

Harsil valley is a very striking place and is inhabited by mainly by Bhotias. Harsil has a population of deodar and apple trees. The temperature here stays pleasant during summers and cold during winters. Harsil also receives snowfall from December to March. Located at a distance of 73 km from Uttarakshi, this is an amazing holiday destination. Harsil is a cantonment area, so Harsil is restricted to foreign tourist.

Best Visiting Places

Sat Tal

Sat Tal is a huddle of seven lakes which is encircled by gorgeous surroundings. Sat Tal is only a few kilometers away from Harsil. The trek from is very rewarding as nature showers you with splendid gifts of beauty at every turn of the road. The distance of this journey is approx. 6 kilometers.

Gangotri

Gangotri is situated at a distance of 24 kilometers from Harsil. This is known as an important place for the Hindu pilgrims. Gorkha General Amar Singh Thapa constructed the Gangotri Temple on the banks of the river Ganga.

Dharali

Dharali is a splendid village located at a distance of 3 kilometers from Harsil. You can reach Dharali easily through motorable roads.

Mukhwas Village

Mukhwas village is located at a distance of 1 kilometer from Harsil. Mukhwas becomes the revered destination for the devotees in the winters because; due to heavy snowfall it becomes the home for Goddess Gangotri for the season. The doors of the Gangotri temple remain close during snow fall.

By Air: The nearest airport is Jolly Grant in Dehradun, which is 235 km from Harsil

By Road: Harsil is 73 km away from Uttarakshi on the way to Gangotri

Best time to Visit

The climate of Harsil remains pleasant in summers and chilling in winters. There is snowfall from December to March.
