About Mussoorie :   Mussoorie, the queen of hill stations, is situated 250 miles north of Delhi. The hill station is positioned at the height of 7000 ft. above the sea level, and peeps down the verdant and luxuriant Doon valley in general and the city of Dehradun. The splendid hill station stands astride Garhwal Himalayas, and further adds a tint of beauty to the protruding Himalayan range.Mussoori is famous tourism destination for hill station lovers.

Mussoorie Tour Itinerary

Mussoorie Tourism Mussoorie has a fascinating past, though it elevated to status of hill station only until 1823. Pious River Ganges flows from one end of hill station’s ridge, whereas river Jamuna flows from the other. Mussoorie Hill Station was neglected for many years. It was neither accrued the status of summer capital of British Indian government like Shimla, and unlike Nainital, it never became the summer capital of the united provinces government in British India.

Mussoorie is known as the Honeymoon capital of India with its air of frivolity, love and romance. The hill station can be visited anytime of the season, but for those who want to stay away from the cold waves, April till June and September till November. Tourists need to wear light woolen clothing, especially at night, and heavy woolens are needed in winters. While in Mussoorie, one can hire government rest houses or hotels.

Popular Tourist Spots

Gun Hill - Treated as the second highest peak of Mussoorie, Gun Hill is 20-minute walk from the Mall Road. It can also be reached through the ropeway. The name is given to the tourist spot because during the pre Independence times, a gun was mounted on the hill which was fired during mid-day to make the people adjust their watches. The peak presents a spectacular view of the Himalayan ranges vis-à-vis, Bunderpunch, Shrikanta, Pithwara and Gangotri group respectively. Gun Hill also presents bird eye view of the fabulous Mussoorie town, and the rich Doon valley.

Kempty Falls – Situated at an altitude of 4500 feet, the falls are at 15 kms. distance from Mussoorie on the Yamnotri Road. The beauty of Kempty Falls can be attributed to the high mountainous ambience. The tourists can hire buses or taxis from Mussoorie to reach to this place.

Municipal Garden – The garden gives the tourists natural and idyllic experience altogether. The garden has an artificial mini lake and one can even go for boating. The garden is quite close from Mussoorie, at a distance of 4 kms. from the main road, and almost 2 kms. via foot from the Convent road.

Camel's Back Road – This 3kms. road stretches from Kulri Bazar near Rink Hall and ends at Library Bazaar. The road gives a great sunset view, and also provides great scope for horse riding lovers. The name of the road descends from the fact that it seems to be similar in shape as Camel’s Back, if seen from Mussoorie Public School.

Nag Devta Temple – Lying at a distance of 6 kms from Mussoorie, the temple gives a spectacular view of Doon Valley and Mussoorie Hill Station.
