Pithoragarh Fort set top of the hill on the border of the town. The fort was built by the Gorkhas in 1789.

Kapilleshwar Mahadev (3kms.)

Kapilleshwar temple is dedicate to Lord Shiva. This is the cave temple. On the kapilleshwar temple beautiful view of the Soar valley and high Himalayan peaks.

Chandak (8 kms.)

Dhwaj Temple

Dhwaj Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and Maa jayanti. It is 10 kms by the road and 4 kms by the trek from the Pithoragarh. In this place breath taking view of the Himalayas peaks.

Thal kedar (16 kms)

Thal kedar is very famous temple of Uttarakhand. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiv. Every year on Shivratri large number of devotees came here for worship.

Askot Sanctuary

The Askot Sanctuary is 54 kms from the Pithoragarh. This is the famous place for the wildlife and nature lover person. It is safe haven for the snow leopards, tahra, bharals, monals, Himalayan black bears, koklas, pheasants musk deers, snow cocks, chirs, and chukors.

Buses and taxis are easily available from Kathgodam and Tanakpur. Those are two nearest Railway Station. Pithoragarh has a small hill runway at Naini Saini. It 5 km from the town. If you are driving from Delhi. You can break your journey at Kathgodam or Nainital. Than next morning drive to Pithoragarh. Enroute you visit Almora and Bageshwar.

Best time to visit Pithoragarh Hill Station is March to June and September to October, while July to early September is the raining period. Light woollens and rain protection is needed in summer, while heavy woollens are needed in winter.
